ATTICA. Athens. Circa 500/490-485/0 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 23 mm, 16.68 g, 7 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing close-fitted crested Attic helmet decorated with a small spiral on the bow, a dotted chevron crest support, a disc earring and with the hair over her forehead shown in tight curls. Rev. AΘE Owl standing right, head facing; in field to left, olive sprig with two leaves and a berry; all within incuse square. Asyut Group IVc. HGC 4, 1590. Seltman 246 (Group Gii, very similar obverse, A162, but differing reverse die). Svoronos pl. 4, 29 ff. An impressive piece with a very complete obverse. Athena's face lightly struck and with some corrosion, otherwise, good very fine.
