SICILY. Akragas. Circa 465/460-445/440 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.33 g, 7 h). AKRAC-ANTOΣ Eagle with folded wings to left. Rev. Crab seen from above, with the shell rendered in segments resembling a human face. Westermark, Period II, 349b, (O10/R35): others struck from the same dies, in the same state 'b' (with a minor die flaw on the reverse), are: Bement (Naville 6), 334 (W 349, 36), Gulbenkian 161 (W 349,16), Kraay & Hirmer 171 (W 349, 26), SNG ANS 973 (W 349, 31) and SNG Lloyd 804 (W 349, 12). Clear, lightly toned and attractive. About extremely fine.
