KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Stater (Gold, 19 mm, 8.62 g, 9 h), struck during the reign of Philip III Arridaios, Amphipolis, circa 323/2-315. Laureate head of Apollo to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Charioteer, driving chariot drawn by two horses rearing to right, and holding reins in his left hand and goad in his right; below horses, tripod on a slant to left and Κ. Le Rider 238-241 var (D101'/R- struck from an unrecorded reverse die). Sharply struck and most attractive. Some minor scuffs, otherwise, good extremely fine.
