CIMMERIAN BOSPOROS. The Sindii. Circa 400 BC. Hemiobol (Silver, 8 mm, 0.27 g, 6 h). Eagle-griffin seated right with left forepaw raised; before, barley corn. Rev. ΣΙΝΔΩ-Ν Horse's head to right, all within incuse square. HGC 7, 6 var. (legend). MacDonald 84 var. (legend). Very rare and attractively toned; struck from the same obverse die as the "Collection sans Pareille" and Chandon De Brialles collection example, which was sold in Obolos 35, 15 December 2024, 1128. Good very fine.



The types seen here are known for both diobols and hemiobols. Diobols are noted with the legend ΣΙΝΔΩΝ (MacDonald 83), as here, but hemiobols are only documented with the legend ΣΙΝ (MacDonald 84).
